We facetimed Farmer Rozelle today! We thought of questions that we would like to find out and she answered them all. It was great to gain an insight into her role on the farm. We cant wait to spaek to her again soon.

We had a lovely day at Cannon Hall Farm as part of our Field to Fork topic. We had a farm tour and got to see lots of different animals such pigs, piglets, cows, goats, sheep, lambs and donkeys! We then watched ferret racing, played in the mazes, visited the reptile house and watched a cow milking demonstration. It was a very tiring day but we had so much fun. A big thank you to all the adult helpers!

We had great fun exploring the balance bikes with Phil Bateman a pro ride cyclist. We completed lots of different challenges that tested our ccoordination and balance. We had to complete 3 different circuits involving a limbo stick, a ramp and lots of cones! It was fantastic!

We loved completing our measures challenge in our outdoor area. We had to find objects that were longer than and shorter than a 30cm ruler. We recorded our findings on a whiteboard.

The children have had a fantastic time swimming this term. To see the children's confidence grow in such a short space of time has been amazing. They have loved the sessions and gained so much from them.

In Science this week we smelt different scents as part of our work on our 5 senses. We had to guess what was inside each pot based on the smell. We then discussed if we liked or disliked the smell. Our favourite was definitly chocolate! Our least favourite was vinegar.

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day We dressed up as a book character, we had a visit from Damian Harvey, a real life author who inspired us all to get writing! We then worked with Miss Middlebrooke and Mrs Barton's class on Narnia themed activities. It was a fun but very busy day!

As part of our topic on Animals and Humans in Science we looked closely dead fish! We looked at two different types of fish and looked at the similarities and differences between the two. The children were fascinated by them!

We loved learning to tell the time in Maths this week. We looked at making analogue and digital times.

We had a great morning exploring lots of different maths activities today. We had to solve shape, number and direction problems working together in teams of 7 or 8. All the children were a credit to the school and worked SO hard to complete all of the activities.

We enjoyed showing the rest of the school and our parents what we have been learning this half term. The children did so well reading their words and sharing their work.

Parents and Carers were invited into school to learn about a new inititiave that we are starting in school. The parents had a talk explaining 'The Thrive Approach' then they attended activities in our classroom. We made friendship bracelets, dream catchers, lego models and completed some mindful colouring. It was lots of fun.

This half term we have been working on challenging ourselves in the areas of provision. We have had to complete a series of different challenges, collecting evidence as we go along. If we manage to successfully complete the challenges we win a coloured lolly stick in our pot. 7 sticks and we win a prize!

As part of our Art Topic on colour theory we explored colour mixing. We learnt about the three primary colours and explored what happened when we mix the colours together. We painted these on a colour wheel. We then used our knowledge to mix our own colours to paint Elmer.

We have had great fun learning all about measures. We have measured the length of objects around the classroom, the distance cars travelled down the guttering, made potions estimating how much the different contaners hold and found objects that were heavy and light.

This afternoon we began experimenting with felt making! It was a tricky process but the children were fabulous! They worked together well in partners and enjoyed the activity.

We had a great time watching the production of Aladdin in our school hall this afternoon. We loved joining in with singing, dancing and of course lots of cheering and booing!

As part of our topic this term we have been fascnated by the events of the Great Fire of London. We have completed some fantastic writing and mde some great art work.

This afternoon was our Open Afternoon where our grown ups had the opportunity to come into class and take part in lots of different activities with us. It was also a time where we were able to show them all of the wonderful work we have been doing in Year 1!
