7.6.18 - The children were joined again by the team from the NSPCC today, who came back to deliver a workshop about how to keep happy and safe. The children had the chance to discuss scenarios, ask questions, learn more about childline and complete their own 'Buddy Kit'.

26.4.18 - It has been a fantastic week in school this week! To help launch our 'India' topic, we were lucky enough to enjoy a Bollywood workshop on Wednesday where we learnt the traditional type of dance using Bhangra music. Our second event was a trip to 'The Cumin Lounge' where we got to enjoy tasting some of the local Indian cusine! It has been a very enjoyable week to kick off what we are sure will be a very exciting topic.

20.4.18 - This week has been Science week where we have focussed on Bees. We have reserached all about bees, designed wild flower gardens to encoruage bees, built bee houses and we finished today with a Bee workshop where we got to see real life bees in their colony, try on suits and taste honey. Year 5 and 6 have really enjoyed learning about these fascinating creatures!

22.2. 18 - Today, we were visited by the staff from Santander Bank who delivered a workshop and taught us all about how to keep ourselves and our money safe. We thought about safe passwords and usernames and created posters to teach others how to be safe.

31.1.18 - Today, we were joined by some special visitors who delivered a Forest School taster session to the children. The children completed some team building activities, learnt about fire/shelter and had a go at using some fire tools in a safe way. The children really enjoyed the session and are hoping that our visitors can return in the future.

22.1.18 - We visited the Orchard today and conducted a wildlife survey to discover which wildlife lives inside our Orchard. We then used this information to create graphs on Microsoft Excel. We also spent some time studying the leaves on the floor and seeing if we could work out which trees they originated from.

15.1.18 - This morning, Year 5 and 6 received an email from MI5 with a series of tasks for a special spy inititaion programme. The children took part in their first series of challenges this morning including a laser maze, minefield, memory challenge and finger printing. We are hoping that some of the children may make it onto the next stage of the spy initiation programme.

24.11.17 - This week has been our Orchard week. We managed to get out into the Orchard and improve our sketching skills. We were looking at observational drawing and using viewfinders to capture sections of a landscape. The children really enjoyed taking their learning outdoors.

17.11.17 - It was a great afternoon for Year 6 today, who got to take part in the STAR Alliance Question Time event. During the event Year 6 children from across the alliance had the opportunity to ask questions to a list of VIP guests. Our guests were: Lord Kirkhope of Harrogate, a serving member of the House of Lords; Nigel Adams, MP for Selby and Ainsty; Richard Corbett, MEP for Yorkshire and Humber; Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner and David Buckle, Vice-Chairman of Selby District Council. A special well done to Lucy.S. who was selected to ask her question about whether or not there are enough females in politics.

20.10.17 - Well done to all of the children for their efforts in class assembly this morning. It was great to see how proud the children were of their learning this half term. For those of you who were unable to join us, here are a few photos from the assembly.

6.10.17 - We were very lucky to be joined by Diane today who led a Parliament and debating workshop for us. The children worked on their debating skills and debated whether mobile phones should be allowed in school or not; the final result was yes they should!

To help us celebrate international day of languages, we were very lucky to have a Flamenco dancing workshop where we learnt about posture and hand movements in the traditional spanish dance.

We had a very exciting afternoon today with a visit from The Maasai Warriors. We learnt about their culture and were able to watch some of their songs and dances. Take a look at some of the photos.
