Athelstan school is excited to announce that we have been awarded a Big Lottery Fund Grant of £7,289 to improve the school’s wildlife garden, making it accessible and inclusive.

Mrs Thompson, the School Business Manager, undertook the project to create an inclusive environment with the support of staff and pupils. School pupils provided ideas and a vision of the work needed to improve and make the garden area accessible for everyone. The project will support the school's equality and diversity policy promoting positive outcomes in relation to race, gender and disability.

Work has now been undertaken in the Wild Garden. GCM landscaping have done the ground works .Animal carvings are still to be installed to complete the project however the chidlren will be able to access the garden in January.

The grant award has enabled the school to undertake  work to improve accessibility for everyone into the wild garden area. The grant ill enable the school to improve outdoor learning with a range of sensory resources and equipment for less able pupils. The work will start after the half term holiday. We will keep you updated of our progress and we will be delighted to show you around once completed.
