 We would like to warmly welcome you to our school, a school of which we are justifiably proud. Athelstan Community Primary School is a modern purpose built primary school serving the expanding community of Sherburn-in-Elmet.
The school has a well established Nursery Unit for children aged 3-4 ,which is open 5 mornings and 3 afternoons per week and includes a half an hour lunctime session. While the main school takes children full time from 4 to 11 years old. The school is well equipped to deliver all the various demands of the national curriculum across all the age ranges providing specific areas for foundation play and designated ICT faciliities.
Athelstan boasts an excellent library with all classrooms having the benefit of interactive whiteboards.Athelstan school is also proud of its commitment to the environment and has a designated wildlife garden which allows the children to have a practical approach to learning outdoors,the garden is also the home to our two chickens! As school we believe that it is essential that we offer a wide range of experiences for our children, both in and out of the classroom. We recognise that school isn’t just about the formal lessons taught in class but about developing the child as a rounded individual.The Athelstan School Vision is:
