Established Post 32 hours Term Time + 2 weeks

Main Pay Scale Grade J Scale point 26 -29

Following the retirement of our School Business Manager an exciting opportunity has arisen at Athelstan for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed person to join our team.

Athelstan is a large two form entry school for children from 2-11, with an extended Early Years unit and in house wrap around care.

It is essential that the successful candidate will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills.  The ability to manage front of house duties along with the many and demanding tasks of the busy school day is also a necessity.  We are looking for an excellent communicator who will make good relationships with staff, governors, pupils and parents along with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have significant financial experience as they will be responsible for the administrative and financial resource management of the school’s multi-million-pound budget, including budget setting, health and safety, contract management and building maintenance.  In addition, they will have overall responsibility for the effective and efficient running and management of the school offices and Admin team. A high level of professionalism, reliability and the ability to maintain confidentiality whilst interacting positively with all members of the school community will be essential.

 

What we are looking for in our successful School Business Manager

  • Certificate or Diploma of School Business Management CSBM (or degree level equivalent in a relevant subject)
  • Extensive, experience within a financial, management and leadership role
  • Developed leadership skills (strategic planning, effective line management competency, visibility, initiative, proactive approach, and a hands-on approach to team support)
  • Proven experience of financial management, including providing management information, scenario planning and responding to audits
  • Excellent IT and organisational skills (reviewing business processes, streamlining systems, using new technology to improve operations)
  • Ideally knowledge and experience of funding streams within education or a similar field
  • The ability to work under pressure and prioritise time effectively
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Respect for confidentiality, including management of Data Protection processes
  • Experience of working in a school or office/administrative environment
