Early Years Assistant

Grade CD Scale point 2-4    29.5 hours

Grade AB Scale point 2          0.5 hours

Total hours 30 hours  

Fixed post    Required from September 2023

We require an outstanding and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our hard-working team in our busy ‘outstanding’ Early Years unit. The post is 30.00 hours per week, working within our nursery classrooms. Athelstan School is a friendly, warm and welcoming school, there is a strong family and inclusive ethos, where teamwork is highly valued and the role of the individual within the team is respected. Candidates should be committed to following a creative, child centred approach to teaching and learning and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You would work alongside an established motivated and supportive Early Years Team, led by our Deputy Head teacher.

 

Children in the early years get off to an exceptional start. The early years curriculum has been very carefully thought out. There is clear progression from the two-yearolds through to Reception. Every opportunity is taken to engage children’s interests and inspire them. In all areas of provision, children play and learn well together.

Their engagement in their learning is exceptional. Staff are exceptionally skilled at talking to the children and moving them towards independence. Behaviour and relationships among the children are very positive. Ofsted 2023.

 

Candidates must

· Be confident in communicating positively with parents, and all other stakeholders on a daily basis.

· Be hardworking and willing to contribute to the whole school ethos

· Have a sense of fun!

Candidates should have:

· An understanding of and commitment to the provision of good quality childcare

· An understanding of food hygiene rules

· Health & safety knowledge, including lifting and handling and fire prevention

· A sound understanding of safeguarding procedures

· Knowledge of healthy eating

 

The successful applicant will have a child care qualification and have a desire to work within early years. We are committed to inclusion.
