We will have PE twice a week. PE kits should be brought into school on a Monday and left in school until Friday.
The children will need an indoor PE kit of white t-shirt and back or blue shorts and an outdoor PE kit of white t-shirt, blue or black jogging bottoms and top, and trainers.
Our homework is to:
This will help to ensure the children make the best possible progress during their time in Year One.
Reading at least three times a week, or daily if possible, will help the children to progress with their segmenting and blending of words and to develop fluency in their reading.
The spellings set for the children are linked to their current abilities and support their development in phonics, reading and writing. We test spellings on a Friday. Please return homework sheets on a Friday. If using the look, say, cover, write, check method is not suitable for your child, please feel free to learn and practise the spellings in a different way. Under the Phonics and Spelling tab below you will find a document with alternative suggested spelling activities. On the back of the spellings sheet, it will be beneficial for the children to have a go at writing a sentence or two using the words. This will help with their understanding of how to use the word correctly in their writing.
To support the children's mathematical development they have access to the online program NumBots.
Additional homework will be set occasionally throughout the year. This will usually be linked to our topic.
