To Be The Best That We Can Be
Welcome to Year Three
PE: We will have PE each week. PE kits should be brought into school on a Monday and left in school until Friday. Please check the Weekly Newsletter for the day PE is planned for each week.
The children will need an indoor PE kit of white t-shirt and black or navy shorts and an outdoor PE kit of white t-shirt, navy or black jogging bottoms and top, and trainers.
Homework:
Our homework is to:
This will help to ensure the children make the best possible progress during their time in Year Three. Additional homework will be set occasionally throughout the year. This will usually be linked to our topic.
Reading: Reading at least three times a week, or daily if possible, will help the children to progress with their fluency in their reading. The children will complete Guided Reading sessions in school three times a week and will bring home their guided reading books and sharing books to enjoy after each unit. Please note in the children's Reading Record when they have read at home.
Spelling: The children will be given spelling homework each week. The spellings are linked to the children's current abilities and support their development in phonics, reading and writing. We will publish the spellings to work on on the weekly Year Three newsletter. There will be six words that link to the spelling rule we are currently working on plus six additonal words from the National Curriculum spelling appendix. These are words that do not follow a specific phonetic pattern. We have lots of ideas and resource to help you with supporting your child with spelling so please ask.
